Trio

My third post is here. I apologize for not having more Fun Quotes, but they will be back in full-force soon.
I hope everyone is ready to come kiss Arcadia Landing goodbye this weekend (it's this coming Saturday). Hopefully it will be a big show, because they deserve it. Providence Phoenix contacted me and asked me to write a little something about those guys, so I did. I would love it if they put the whole thing in the paper but I'm sure they won't.
Also, this Friday is our day to go into White Noise and finally listen to our new song "...And That's Goodbye" fully mixed. I'm anxious! Our plan is to try to debut it live on WBRU during the day sometime very soon. That would be a sick way to do it and hopefully a lot of new people will hear it. I really think it's a good solid, awesome song. We often write all over the place, and this song is probably going to be a little bit more influenced by stuff like "Enema"-era blink 182, and Reel Big Fish (not in a ska sense, but in a clean, harmony-laiden, pop-ish rock song sense). I think, anyways. Not to worry, punk-rockers, we are still a clusterfuck of influences so don't expect us to hit a style and stick to it. The stuff for the new album is VERY different than what we've previously done, so be prepared to continue to have us shake up any idea of us having a specific style. But yeah - I'm excited for the new song - haven't heard the recording yet, but the writing is great. And you can trust me, because I wrote it.
That Friday is also our scheduled meeting to talk to White Noise about our next album. We are really hoping to have them sign us for it. We love the people there, they love us, and we both feel we'd benefit from such active teams coming together. No confirmations or anything yet, but Friday is the day to figure it out. Basically, it will be the difference between them saying yes and us starting to write (which we should do), or them saying no and us saying "Oh shit. Now we have save up to pay for our van, AND the new album." We're really hoping for this to go down so cross your fingers.
Other surprises are coming up as well. But they, are, unfortunately, surprises. I will repeat none of that here.
I'm getting my wisdom teeth out around the second week of September so I will be out of it for a little, but, as you know if you read my last post, we will be returning to the studio to re-do five of our old songs in October. Still thinking of ways to release them. Again, comments/ideas are welcome.
I think S*D is going to be releasing these big vinyl stickers soon, so look out for that. We also want to do some new shirts, possibly "Tom's Not A Virgin Anymore" shirts. We're thinking there may be a demand for that kind of stuff. If you are interested in that, surely let us know.
Besides that, we are talking about a new video. Ideas are fluttering around but nothing is down on paper. That damn Sousa is hard to wrangle and (as you may know) we write all the videos together. He starts school again (I know - huge fag) next week, and is yet to pick out his classes.
That's all for now. Feel free to comment here, I will respond to each and every idea/comment/insult. I'd like to get a little community going, and we'd really like some fan feedback on the new ideas for stuff.

Secunda

Tonight (as in, Thursday night) we (meaning Senior Discount) will be playing the Lemon Lime Tennis Shoes homeshow. I'm hoping it's going to be a big show but you never know. We recorded with White Noise last weekend, which was great. We went five hours over our allotted time (which was five hours) and were there until 4:30 AM.
We're really hoping the song comes out well. Hoping against hope! It's our first new song in a long time, and we really wanted it to have a little something extra to it so I hope that comes out.
We'll be playing it live tonight for the LLTS homeshow. We just started really playing it in all its' glory so we're still rusty but it should be alot of fun.
In other news - I think I'm going to have an operation to get my wisdom teeth out soon. I'm sure this will fuck me up horribly. I have to make an appointment to go to the dentist and we'll see.
We're going to be playing tonight, and then Saturday at a free show in Bristol (come down - it's fucking free). After that, hopefully we can hear the new song (the title is going to be "...And That's Goodbye" and get rid to get the comp pressed (the new song is being exclusively released on the new White Noise compilation - "The Scene II" in September), and play the FINAL Arcadia Landing show, on August 30th. I hope to see everyone out for this.
After that we've got a lot coming up. Some secret stuff, and also, what I'm calling "There Were Four Who Tried Harder" which is going to be a re-release of five songs from our original album "There Were Four Who Tried". We're doing new full band versions of Explode RI, I'm Crazy, and That Bitch Not So Bad, as well as an acoustic version of Caley's Song, and a bluegrass version of Ataxia.
I feel like Caley's Song is a great song, and the album version wasn't as great as I had hoped. Maybe it's meant to be an acoustic song? We'll have to see.
Ataxia bluegrass has been in my brain for a long time and I'm super super stoked on it. As for the other three, we just feel like Explode and I'm Crazy are different now, so we want to record them as they are now. That Bitch just needs some harmonies, and we need to tighten it up.
I really want to feel comfortable with all the recordings we have, and I'm not comfortable with Explode, I'm Crazy, and That Bitch. They just need to be re-done.
We're super excited for this. We still have to work out the kinks but we're not recording for another 7 or 8 weeks so we have time.
We're not sure how to distribute these new tracks yet, but I'm open to ideas. At first I just wanted to do a free download, but now I'd like to do something on top of that, like a special show where if you buy a presale ticket, you get the 5 songs for free on a CD from us with something special about the package. I'm not sure what though. Ideas are welcome!
I think we're going to re-do the S*D merch table soon, and eventually the S*D site. We're waiting on Jordan, but he helps fo free so I ain't gon' push him!!!
I want to do new shirts - if anyone has any ideas, we are certainly open. We're also in talks about the new album, but I don't want to comment on that until we have solid facts. The new album is going to be SICK - I promise you that.

So yeah - if you have any ideas for releasing our five new (versions of) songs, let me know, and if you're interested in shirt ideas/design, let me know that too.

My First Post!

So this new blog of mine will be for things I want to write about, news in my life and for Senior Discount, or even Fun Quotes. I will have a weekly poll, usually insulting Senior Discount guitarist, Tom Wells. I'd love for everyone to comment on the posts and talk back and forth with eachother!

Let's start this with some fun quotes!

"Chuck Staton Fun Quotes" are humorous snippets of instant message conversations that I have had with people online.

Chuck Staton and (his close friend) Alan Sousa on cleanliness....

Sousa: I hate bringing a girl home, and my mom being up, knowing I'm just gonna bang her
Chuck Staton: well you deserve it for being so dirty
Chuck Staton: you have to be more like me, Cleany Boy Staton
Sousa: you son of a bitch. there's nothing cleany about you
Chuck Staton: my socks aren't that dirty
Sousa: alright then maybe socks are your exception

Chuck Staton and (his close friend) Aaron Arcello on "goods"....

Chuck Staton: She's just so into me. Every day she calls me and texts me about how she wants me all the time.
Chuck Staton: So I might as well get the goods while the goods are good for getting them.
Chuck Staton: ....as the old saying beautifully says.
Arcello: Yea. Nicely put.
Arcello: Also, you know, I have seen this girl.
Arcello: And let's just say, personally, I think the term "goods" is a bit generous.
